The venue is booked and it’s time to send out the Save the Dates and you hit your first hurdle. Never mind who makes it onto the guest list, it’s time to decide on your wedding theme!

It can be a wise idea to choose your wedding theme early on, because then you can coordinate everything from stationary to your accessories and create a seamless look. But how do you decide on your wedding theme?

Choosing your Wedding Theme

Perhaps you’re a Bride  who knows exactly what you want or you maybe wondering what actually counts as a wedding theme? The answer really is anything goes! It’s your day and you can design it anyway you want, from a simple colour scheme to something much more specific such as based around a favourite film or destination.

Many of the brides who come to The Pretty Wedding Shoe Company for hand painted wedding shoes choose to mirror the season of their wedding as a basis for their theme. We agree this is a great idea, so we  brought together a whole brunch of talented wedding suppliers to showcase a great range of accessories  that you could combine to have an amazing coordinated winter wedding  theme. All these ideas can be tailored to suit your own wedding theme and we would love to hear about any ideas you may have for your own wedding day, so do leave a comment at the end of the post and we may feature them in a future post!

A Winter Wedding Theme

The starting point for this shoot was a pair of hand painted wedding shoes  with a wintery snowflake theme. Ice blue  was chosen as the main colour with silver as the accent metallic shade and these were used throughout to link everything together.

You can carry the theme through to include a snowflake veil and choose a stunning head piece such as this  beautiful  hand crafted Tiara by Peacock & Pearl.  The ice blue gems and silver leaves are perfect for a winter wedding theme.

Your little Flower Girls would look lovely in ice blue dresses with white velvet capes and snowflake shoes. Your younger bridesmaids would feel grown up in these small heeled, hand painted shoes complete with diamanté’s for some added sparkle. Shoes are from Rainbow Club.

Continuing on with shoes, how adorable are these little soft ballet pumps, again from The Pretty Wedding Shoe Company. They have a rubber sole so work well outside too. Your flower girls will be wanting to twirl their way around the dance floor!

Rather than entrusting the best man with the wedding rings how cute would  your little page boy look carry them down the aisle on a hand painted ring cushion? Don’t worry about them dropping or losing them, as the rings can be securely tied to the ribbons with a bow!

Here you can also see a beautiful table number card from Poppleberry. This one has the snowflake motif embossed on it, which adds a nice bit of texture. Snowflakes would look so pretty on all your stationary from Save the Dates to personalised Thank You Cards.

Seasonal foliage works beautifully for table decorations and your wedding flowers. I absolutely love the use of ice blue thistles in this arrangement by Signature Flowers and the silver hand sprayed grasses, which add delicate movement.

The winter wedding theme is continued through to the Grooms buttonhole and place setting. This gender neutral wedding theme works equally well for both bride and groom. We added some simple Christmas decorations and tied the linen napkin with co-ordinating ribbon. A matching silver under plate makes this simple  place setting stand out against the snowflake table cloth.

Let’s talk food, drink and wedding favours!

A winter wedding theme is perfect for some really personal touches such as these beautiful snowflake cookies with edible silver leaf. They make great decorations and could also double up as yummy wedding favours!

Here we have chosen to echo the wedding theme with a spray of little snowflakes in ice blue, winter white and silver.

This stunning cake carries the winter wedding theme through beautifully by using the chosen colours. It shows that you don’t have to use the snowflake motif on everything to coordinate your wedding theme but can match it up with flowers and colours.

Snowflake wedding favours using our winter wedding theme are a simple but effective way to give a little momento for  your guests to take home. Simply pop a little gift inside and add to each place setting. These ones from Bomboniere by Maria are so pretty that they won’t get left behind by guests.

Anna Jane Designs made us this bespoke perspex sign especially for the shoot. You can commission something similar for your own wedding. Pop it on an easel or prop up on a table to welcome all your guests.

We hope that we have sparked your imagination and given you some ideas for creating your own unique wedding theme.
