Watching your children get married is supposed to be a happy day, but it can be bittersweet if a loved one is no longer with you. I am so sorry if this is you and I know personally how heartbreaking it can be.

Weddings are especially hard for Mothers of Bride or Groom who have been widowed as you should have been celebrating your children getting married with your loved one. It can be a comfort to have a small white feather or other meaningful motif hand-painted onto your shoes in memory of them.

Brides, if you have lost your Dad, consider having a small token, such as a white feather, hand-painted on your right shoe. I know it’s not the same as having him there in person, and nothing can compensate for the loss but in part, this way, he will still be with you every step of the way, walking you down the aisle.
